About THE AUTHOR
My name is Nicole, and I have gone by the name of Emerie Seins since I performed Burlesque and Cabaret in a French Dance Company in New Zealand during my early twenty’s. Emerie is the name of the first man from my French heritage to immigrate to New Zealand in 1840. Seins, is the French word for breast, fitting as I was the youngest member in the company, a ballerina with a D-Cup, and a cheeky personality. 'Seins' also has many other meanings in different languages, and they all fit beautifully to the essence of who Emerie Seins is as an artist. In Dutch it means signals. In German it means his, and in Serbian & Slovenian, it means to be.

Over the past two years living in Bali, Indonesia, I have created a life that is filled with vibrancy and an array of art that blows my mind. The last and only time I wrote a blog, I was twenty-two and moving to Australia to begin pre-professional training at a dance school in Melbourne. I abandoned the blog as soon as I arrived. I was injured when I was twenty-five and abandoned my budding dance career, swearing it was over.

But the questions kept coming back to me. What is art? Can I call myself an artist without dance? How do I want to show up in this world?

Poetry, my long-lost medium, the place where I could go, and be completely and truly myself. I spent the next six years writing almost every day. Since moving to Bali in January 2020, my understanding of myself as an artist has developed tenfold. I have two books currently in process, I get to perform my work at an event I run with my partners in Voices Unleashed. Poetry is my home and the only thing I experience that exercises complete transparency. I also began to sing again, after five years of silence and tried my hand at songwriting. I picked up a ukulele or a guitar and chose the cords I liked, took my poetry, opened my mouth, and allowed the melody to find me. Through Voices Unleashed, I made many beautiful and talented friends, some of which, have become songwriting partners and collaborators on many interesting projects. I made my first clay sculpture, learned how to make the mold, and created a beautiful bookend, of my own naked form. I began to paint and draw, two things I would never do since I was a child, as I was purely terrible. Dance entered my life again, be it in tiny outbursts that are sporadic and flailing, still, I have been finding movement again.

I became interested in Event Management and the team behind Voices Unleashed, expressed our interest in Artist Management, creating opportunities, and managing the progression of their careers. I was thrown into the world of Artist Management last September when an Artist approached me after sharing a handful of beautiful experiences at our open mic event - Unplugged. Since then I have been learning the music industry and working with some of the most talented and passionate artists I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and signed another artist.

I have always been a part of the arts, as a former dancer for twenty years, I am interested in the workings of the industry. This role for me is incredibly empowering, as it gives me an opportunity to exercise the dual characteristics I hold- A maternal nature and organization. Working closely with people has always been a strength of mine. I love seeing the potential in them and finding ways to help them rise to the next level. My operational skills allow me to manage everything behind the scenes and get everyone where they need to on time (well, I try).

Emerie Seins has become the artist, but also so much more. She is the freedom of expression I feel Nicole had never allowed to escape her. She unleashes, with a howl the darkness that seems to gather inside, yet she still allows this darkness to live in harmony with the lighter side of her. A journey to the centre of the self. She encompasses the creator, explorer, experiencer, manager, and lover, whom all live within.
This will be, in all its forms, the expression of Emerie Seins, and the creations of those who surround her, work with her, create with her, and inspire her. She will share her untapped source of Art moving rapidly on the Island of the Gods—Bali, Indonesia.
